Expert poker player and author of eight books on poker, Lou Krieger is one of the world’s best-known and respected writers on the subject.
In the early 90s Lou Krieger, who has been playing poker since childhood, began writing a column called “On Strategy,” for Card Player Magazine. Aimed primarily at holdem players, the column is full of advice for beginners, low-limit, and even experienced mid-limit holdem players.
Lou’s first book, Hold’em Excellence: From Beginner to Winner, was published in 1995. He followed that up with MORE Hold’em Excellence: A Winner For Life, in 1997. In 2000, Poker For Dummies — which is currently on its way to becoming the best selling poker book in history — was released. His fourth book, Gambling For Dummies followed in 2001. In 2003, Lou wrote Internet Poker: How to Play and Beat Online Poker Games with Kathy Watterson, and Winning Omaha/8 Poker, with Mark Tenner. The Poker Player’s Bible was published by Barron’s in November 2004, and he is currently working on Secrets the Pros Won’t Tell You About Winning Holdem Poker was published in 2006.
Lou Krieger has written more than 400 columns about poker strategy, and currently writes for Bluff Magazine, 5th Street Magazine, Canadian Poker Player, Woman Poker Player, and Midwest Gaming and Travel. His writings can also be found on his blog LouKrieger.com.
Casino Journal Magazine, the industry bible, in 2000 named Krieger one of the most influential gaming writers of the past 100 years — an honor accorded to only five poker authors.
When not writing about poker, Lou is the host for the internet poker site RoyalVegasPoker.com and volunteers his time as the host of CollegePokerChampionship.com, a freeroll online tournament that provides scholarship funds to students along with donations to a variety of charities, and annually crowns the best college no-limit Texas holdem poker player in the world.
Lou is a frequent radio guest, and recently completed a featured role in the new reality-poker TV show, “Vegas Virgins.” He can also be found playing poker in the card rooms of southern California. You can visit him on his website LouKrieger.com and play poker against him every Wednesday at 8:00 PM EST on RoyalVegasPoker.com If you KO Lou, you’ll win a $50 bounty, a T-shirt telling the world, “I knocked out the Expert,” and one of Lou’s books.

Whenever your opponents past actions aren’t consistent with the hand he appears to be trying to represent now, suspect a bluff.
There are times when slowplay is the right thing. But, not as many times as most players seem to think. If you’ve got any doubt whether slowplay is the right move — you should probably just bet.
To make money with a big Poker hand, your opponents have to have good hands also. This is true with Texas Holdem hands, but particularly true in split pot games.
In Texas Hold’em Poker the best starting hand is double aces.
